8 Jan 2019 by Rachael Bouley

The 2019 Victorian State Teams enjoyed a warm send-off Monday night at Waverley Baseball Club, an exciting moment with the 2019 Australian Youth Championships just days away. The annual Jersey Presentation tradition continued as the 80 chosen players and 16 coaches and officials across all four teams gathered for a memorable evening of congratulations and well wishes.

Following a sit-down dinner provided by Waverley, High Performance Manager Damian Shanahan welcomed all players and parents and thanked them for their commitment and dedication to the upcoming championships. He also acknowledged the coaches and officials for undertaking their roles and putting so much time and energy into preparing the teams for this opportunity.

Next, Chris Harman from the U16 Whites and Scott Meager from the U16 Blues presented their players with official game jerseys.
Baseball Victoria CEO Justin Huber addressed the attendees and imparted some valuable words of wisdom, including the importance of being a team player and enjoying the moment.
Ben Laux of the U18 Whites and Marshall Skinner of the U18 Blues continued with the presentation of the official jerseys.

The U16 and U18 teams will fly to Sydney this Thursday with the championships kicking off on Friday, January 11th and continuing through Sunday, January 20th at Blacktown International Sportspark.

These talented Victorian players will do their best to leave their mark on the National Championships with outstanding performances while making memories that will last a lifetime.

Baseball Victoria would like to thank Waverley for hosting this evening event. We wish all players the best of luck, and we look forward to seeing what these teams accomplish at the championships.
