BV aim to utilize this period deliberately to deliver focused programs and services such as training for umpires, field maintenance, coaching and governance.

CEO, Justin Huber, said “I think it is fantastic that we can bring these tournaments to Morwell. I am really excited by the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy in this region and I couldn’t be more impressed with the effort that the LVBA and Morwell Baseball Club have put into preparing for these championships. We still have some work to do before July, but the support of the local baseball community and vision of the Latrobe City Council will undoubtedly enable us to deliver a first-class experience for our participants.

Baseball Victoria are delighted to be partnering with the Latrobe City Council to bring the State Winter Championships to Morwell, situated in the heart of the Latrobe Valley. The region has a rich sporting history, including recent visits by the National Basketball League and the Big Bash League.

“Latrobe City has consistently built on its reputation as a go-to regional venue for major sports and events and we are delighted to add elite baseball to the diverse list of sporting competitions hosted here. Tournaments of this calibre not only attract large spectator audiences from the wider region and beyond, but they also inspire our young people to dream big in their sporting aspirations. Watching sporting heroes in action demonstrates by example that through hard work and dedication, there is the opportunity for our sportspeople to reach their full potential in their chosen sport.

“We look forward to welcoming the players and entourage to our City. The events are sure to be a boost not just to our economy but to our sense of community pride,” Cr White said.

The picturesque surroundings, large array of fine dining options sourced from local produce and a wonderful variety of accommodation options makes the Latrobe Valley an ideal location for this year’s State Winter Championships. Baseball Victoria is looking forward to an exciting, successful competition.
